We were lucky enough to head to Oklahoma to visit my brother Nick and his cute wife Tiffany
for Thanksgiving. It was fun to get out of state for the first time since we've been down here and travel somewhere new. The first and most exciting part for the kids was to meet Baily.
They had a blast and wore Baily out, and yes, Nick and Tiffany succeeded in making the kids want a dog, but the convincing Grant and I that we need one, may be a little harder:)!
They have a massive back yard for lots of good play. It's just too bad it got so cold:(!
Are these two cute friends or what?
Tiffany wowed us and filled our bellies with her amazing turkey (the secret's in the brine:),as well as the butter under the skin), and we shared some family recipes too. Grant was not just requested, but demanded to make Grandma Grant's Strata for Nick, and it was yummy as ever!
Jason helped make the pie filling, and Paige made it pretty.
And we all feasted!!
We watched lots of football and relaxed and in the following days we went to the movies and explored the fun shops in downtown Guthrie (the town Nick and Tiffany live in). This was in one of the museums we went into and Grant said this was the only BSU fan we could find in this town:)!
This was a fun one!
Blake worked on Paige's teeth...
Jason sat in the old time dental chair...
This was my favorite:)!
The sign was quite ironic considering these tools!
I had some intrest in these things, but the whole museum was full of interesting old medical artifacts!!
We found an old phone booth! Kinda tiny!!
This old typewriter was a hit, but I remember my Grandma Hansen had one of these and I'm not THAT old!!:)
The boys hd enough shopping and this is how we found them after the girls came out of one shop!
Meg couldn't pass up this bench.
Paige and Tiffany had fun trying on these...um...not sure what these were:)!
We also got ot shop with Tiffany for some fun maternity clothes and baby things!! Loved it!! And we're sooo excited about their upcoming male addition to the family!! (see, there are advantages to waiting put up my blog post:))
Aunt Tiffany threw together the ultimate Spa day for the girls and made some serious points with them!! They had a BLAST, as you will see!!
The Spa Menu...
Oatmeal facials...
Hot chocolate foot soak and scrub....
Manicures...
Makeup...
And hair...
And then the finished beauties!!
Wowwee!!! I've got some beautiful girls!!
Then we visited POPS, a cool soda place off of Route 66 and we all got to choose from hundreds, maybe thousands of different kinds of sodas!
Ye, we are all Harry Potter geeks, and although no one got this one, we had to take a picture of it!
Blake was amused by this one:)!
And here's the whole crew!! Thanks so much to Nick and Tiffany, (oh, and Biley for course!!) for entertaining our whole crew for the Thanksgiving weekend. We all had a great time, and it's good that we did because...
On the way home good ole Black Betsy broke down in Fort Worth. She blew a spark plug, and we had to get a tow and a rental car to get us home. Then Grant had to drive back the next day to pick her up and get er fixed. It was an unfortunate ending to a fab weekend, but we were blessed in that we broke down in the perfect spot where we were able to get off the freeway to a safe place. Then the kids were amazing even though it was another 6 hour drive to get home (normally a 3 hr. drive, but with the holiday traffic it was HORRID!) It would have been better had we remembered to grab the bag of things to do, but it got left in the other car:(! Needless to say, we made it home, and all was well, and Betsy is back in business again!
