December: Part 3... SUPRISE!!

The remainder of December flew by!  The suprise visit from Mom and Dad Grant was the high light though!!  Grant and I knew they were visiting, but not the kiddos, and after my "shopping trip" after work one night I came home with a super great Christmas suprise.   Jason was in shock to have them here, but when it finally dawned on him that Grandma and Grandpa were going to be here for Christmas and to open presents, it was a big cheer of "YEAH!!"  Paige couldn't get the smile off her face, and after Megan and Blake got out of the bathroom, they were happily suprised as well:)!  It was perfect to have them here while the kiddos were out of school and Grant and I still had to work. 

Grandma and Grandpa got to eat lunch with Megan at school, visit Paige's class to see her project on Ramadan, and pull Jason out of school early for Christmas break.  The kids loved it, and G-ma and G-pa didn't hyperventilate having to enter a school again after retirement, so it was a win-win situation! :)  

Grandpa thought it would be great fun to not only travel to Dallas to meet up with Nick and Tiffany, but to take the fam all to Medeival Times.  I don't think the kids had a clue what to expect, and it was such a fun thing!!  We entered the "castle" and all got to wear a crown, the color of the knight we were to cheer for, and were seated in a section, (red and yellow) in an arena, in our corresponding color.

  We then watched the story unfold of a kingdom, and a tournament with horse shows and knights jousting and spirited sword fights.   As we watched the show we were fed a dinner to match the "Times" in which everything was to be eaten with our hands.  We were served tomato bique, a piece of garlic toast, a chickn leg/thigh (dragon wing), a half of a potatoe (a dragon egg), and a rib (dragon toe) and a yummy pastry. Sorry I didn't get a picture of the food.  It was yummy! All to be eaten with NO utensils:).  It was fun to know that everyone was going to be as messy as you.

It was great to see the kids so enamoured.  They literally sat on the edge of their seats and cheered for our knight.  Paigey was even lucky enough to catch the flower he (the knight) threw to her.  "No one else caught their's right in their hands!" 

 I was sad that I forgot the camera, so my phone had to do the trick.  My pics are bad, so if you want to see better pics, check out Tiffany's blog  to the left (Grant Centeral Station) in the archives for 2010 under, "Fancy a Joust".  (I hope she doesn't mind that!)  

The kiddos then enjoyed having Grandma and Grandpa there to make and decorate cookies, take them to the movies, have a movie night,  play, read, visit the park and enjoy time together.  Gma and Gpa watched the kiddos while Grant and I went to my work Christmas party and they got some peace and quiet while the whole family went to a Polar Express party, and a four square tournament.  Mom was my life saver as she did some house cleaning, dishes, food prep and kid entertaining!  Thank you MOM!! We packed in a lot, and thought we'd give ourselves a break and go out to eat on Christmas Eve, but this was quite a feat!  We will not try this again.  No where, we thought we wanted to go, was open, but ended up having a tasty burger at Fudfuckers.  All in all, the pre holiday festivities were a hit and we all enjoyed being with family after so long! (my camera was lost and I wasn't around to get pictures, so our memories will have to serve us here!)
