So we all decided that Febuary in Texas is AWESOME!! We have had some of the most beautiful weather since we've been here, and have found some great new places to visit.
Grant and Blake found a great park in the middle of the Austin area to mountain bike!
They were beginning to think it wasn't possible here, but they found it, and it was great!
This is the post-ride pic, so no the greatest, but it will do!
We also found.....
PINE TREES!
We traveled about 30 min south of where we live to Bastrop state park and had a great hike in the pine trees. These are not a common site, so it is quite amazing that they just pop up in this one particular area.
Note where Megan is walking on the bridge. She had a bad mishap with a brige in McCall where she fell off and skinned up her face and arm pretty good, so every time we came to a bridge she made a point of staying in the middle.:)
This is the small lake that we hiked into. It's no Duck or Boulder lake, but it was fun and it was February!
No ice on this lake...just not much water either!
Somethings not quite right with the color of the water in these Texas streams! They must be showing their UT colors too. Yuck!
We found a great hill for Blake to freebord down. If you don't know what a freebord is, it is like a snow board, for the road. It is what Blake found to help him through the snow season, and it is pretty darn cool!
This is what was served for dinner! The kids thought it was great fun to look like they were what was served on the table for dinner! Unfortunately that is how we all felt after we at that KFC dinner. Don't have to do that for a long time.
Aside from the "Blue Flame Rd." street sign, this was our favorite sign on the trip. Who can go 19 mph on purpose? Funny!
